Andrea… and his stroll through the fountains of Rome

The English poet Shelley used to say: “The fountains alone justify a trip to Rome". And he starts his walk among these masterpieces where the water becomes one of the element of the city. Starting from Fontana delle Naiadi, in Piazza della Repubblica you can take advantage of the proximity to visit the Terme di Diocleziano and to make some shopping in via Nazionale. In Rome there are about 2000 fountains, so Andrea suggests some of his favoutive proceeding towards Piazza Barberini, in which there is the Fontana del Tritone. From piazza Barberini, you cannot miss via Sistina up to Trinità dei Monti, from which is possible to enjoy a beautiful view above via Condotti, and then walk on the staircase of Piazza di Spagna (which, let's say, it makes you feel like a supermodel!) and then go to the fountain of Pietro Bernini, la Barcaccia. During this tour you cannot miss the Fontana di Trevi, a true masterpiece and maybe, why not, throw a coin and make a wish. A tour like this makes you hungry, so Andrea suggests the Ghetto area where you can satisfy your appetite with different restaurant that offer tasty artichokes: a typical dish of Roman and Jewish couisine. Andrea ends his tour with the beautiful Fontana delle Tartarughe in piazza Mattei.

Giada… and his day at the Roman Castels

If Giada wants to enjoy a relxing Sunday, she always choose the Roman Castels, a very characteristic area, that is worth a visit. This is not an area with castles but a concentration of little villages situated on the Albani Hills close to Rome, considered the best place for a gataway from the city. The itinerary starts from the evocative Frascati with his precious villas like Villa Aldobrandini, Villa Falconieri and Villa Mondragone. In this place is a must to taste the typical food offered in restaurants called “fraschette” in which you can have coppiette and porchetta, grilled meat and wine cakes (the dessert is a must!). Giada suggests her favourite Fraschetta, the Fontana Vecchia.
The day goes on moving to the little town of Nemi, very charming for its view on the lake with the same name. The historical center offers the possibility of walks through the alleys up to the walls of Palazzo Ruspoli, dating back the middle age, situated on the viewpoint that face the lake. Here is possible to relax at the Bar Belvedere, a piece of heaven, tasting a good aperitif and relaxing whatching the lights of sunset reflecting on the lake.
